Recycled water bottle crafts: recipe frames

This is an easy but very useful recycled water bottle craft. I have a special notebook, where I glue down or write down my recipes. But some recipes I use lots of times during a month. It’s so easy to spill things over a recipe you use often and pages get torn or spotted.

So, I’ve come up with this crocheted over water bottle recipe frame:

Here is a quick tutorial:

You should use transparent plastic bottles, if you want two sided recipe frames made out of them. I just cut out two pieces of plastic out of a water bottle for each recipe frame. Then I make holes on the edges. You may use a pricker or hot nail for this purpose. Then I used recycled yarn to crochet the frames on three sides. One side you leave to insert the recipe through.

I have made three crochets into each hole, while crocheting the frame over. Then I crocheted a loop to hang those recycled water bottle  frames by. I have printed out my recipes on both sides of paper and inserted them into the frames. This way, you get your recipes at hand at all times and they are protected from dirt or water. I have used hot glue to put on decorating items onto my plastic bottle recipe frames.

This is a great way to go green, to organize your kitchen stuff and to craft something very useful. You can make a dozen or so of these recycled recipe frames. They look real cute at the kitchen.

5 min craft and art project for kids: felt pen jewelry

This easy recycling or rather upcycling craft and art project for kids really takes only 5 fin to make. All you need is a piece of string or yarn and  old felt pens. You need to pick soft body pens for this bead project.

You just cut the coloring pens in pieces of any size you like.

It’s better to use the felt pens of different colors for your recycled jewelry for kids. Then you put them on a string. Done. It’s a very easy, but fun craft and art project for kids.

Both of my daughters love wearing this recycled jewelry made out of coloring pens.

Coconut and yarn crafts project: bottle decor and handmade box

Here is another one of my bottle decor and upcycling projects.

Upcycling: yarn for glass bottle and coconut

I have gotten a roll of natural linen yarn. I also picked a nice bottle for upcycling. This bottle decoration project is very easy, unlike the decoupage one. You simply roll the year around the bottle. I used yarn of two colors and have crocheted a small pendant to decorate the bottle.

The only difficulty was to wrap the yarn around the part of the bottle between the think and thin. I had to use a bit of glue to make the yarn stay there and not slip in loops.

I also had an empty coconut I was sorry to throw away. So, I used the same yarn to crochet a cover for it and now my daughter is using it as a box to store her hair pins in. So, it’s a simple, but very useful coconut box and yarn bottle decor and upcycling project.

Crocheted pot holder

I got inspired to crochet this little cute item by one of the blogs here.

Here is another one of my small crocheting projects: crochet baby purse and headband

Lately I got time to do some crocheting and some decoupage. Here is my small project: crochet baby purse and headband for my older daughter.

I learned new to crochet new flower patterns doing this small crocheting project of mine. I always try to live greener. So, for most of my crocheting work I reuse the yarn. I had two old baby sweaters and one old scarf. So, I used them to crochet some new stuff.
