This is another cute way of decorating a mason jar. This time I used polymer clay and decoupage. I have turned a jar into a little cute house with door and windows.

Using this technique you can decorate a mason jar in any style, including a romantic one suited for Valentine day.

Here is a quick DIY on this mason jar candle:

First I painted the jar with white paint, only I left some blank spaces for the door and windows. Then I decoupaged all the painted surface. Next, I moded polymer clay details and just pressed them against the jar. Finally, I have boiled the jar in a pot for 10 min in order to get my clay firm. You may use a different type of clay that does not require any boiling. Here you go. Pin away and follow me on Pinterest. I have tons of fun projects pinned there.

Easter fabric crocheted basket

This is a very cute and sweet looking Easter fabric crocheted basket. Easter egg basket is not the only use for it. You can store your candies, fruit or other things in it. You can use it to store your jewelry or crafting supplies. Or, you could go shopping with it.

The size of this Easter fabric crocheted basket is 6 by 10 inches. It is totally go green project. I have used an old curtain and a piece of old brown flower pattern fabric to make the yarn for the rug basket. I have also used an old bag handle to upcycle it and make the basket handle.

13 handmade and recycled kitchen storage ideas

There are many things in your kitchen or your crafting supplies you need to store. The trick is to make the storage usable, functional and cute at the same time. I use lots of things people usually throw away, but I upcycle and repurpose them and turn them into cute and useful items. Here is my collection of storage ideas for crafting and for kitchen.

Upcycled cans

Here are two recycled cans turned into storage containers. The first one is an old coffee can. I have  repainted it and decoupaged it with rosebuds. You can store anything in here starting with baking soda (Usually I buy baking soda in paper packs and transfer it into cans as it soaks up the moist and does not store well in paper) and ending up with spices, salt or sugar. You may find a tutorial here.

The next one  is an olive’ can turned into a storage place for my crocheting hooks. I used to have trouble finding them around the house and now I keep them all in one place. This can is covered with fabric and lace.

Baskets

These two baskets or bowls are made out of rope. The tiny one is crocheted over with yarn. It’s really easy to make, if you crochet just a little.

This bowls is rolled out of rope. I used hot glue gun to make it. It takes about 10 min to make one. I also cut out a part of plastic bottle and decoupaged it. So, now this bowl can be used as a flower pot.

The next one is made out of recycled plastic bottles. Here is the link to the post. It’s a small basket which can be used as a jewelry box, but I store beads and other small crafting supplies in it.

The next comes a crocheted bowl. I had some yarn leftovers and decided to make a small bowl. One may put fruit in it or store other small things in the kitchen.

Bottles

This far I have decoupaged tons of glass bottles. I use them for storing cooking oil, as it is much healthier to store it in glass instead of plastic. You may find more pictures on the Decoupage projects blog page.

Lace and ribbon storage

I do not know about you, but I had trouble storing lace or ribbons. They’d get all tangled up and I had hard time getting apart. So, I decided to make some sort of storage for lace and ribbons and upcycled two things. The first lace roll is made out of old wooden stick out of vintage bed.

Tea house

This is a cute recycling project. I have made this tea house for storing tea bags out of plastic bottles. The lower part is made out of plastic bottle decoupaged over with napkins and decorated with lace. The top part is also made out of plastic bottle filled with foam, decoupaged and decorated with lace and ribbon flowers.

Fun and easy crafts for kids and adults: making disc pendents and crocheted bracelets

Here is the disc and key pendents easy adn fun crafts:

Here is what I used to make it:

These are the old and rusty metal discs used to faster the bolts. You may use new ones. This way you would not have to clean them. I washed and sanded them a bit. Then I used nail glue to color a disc pendent from both sides. I also used nail gems to decorate the pendent and put it on a rope. The other disc is for the ring to go with that pendent. As nail polish dries up fast, it took me only about 5 min to finish this easy and fun craft idea of disc pendent. It’s for my girl of 5 years of age.It looks real cute, too.

Here is another easy and fun craft project: It’s my key pendent

These pendents are made the same way as the disc ones. The golden one is for me and the pink one is for my daughter as she loves pink. I used nail polish and nail gems to decorate the old keys.

Here is another easy and fun craft: making bracelets. It takes about 5-10 min to make one, if you know some basic crocheting.

I used a slice of plastic water bottle for the bracelet base. Just cut out a ring out of plastic bottle. If it is too big for your hand, make a slice out of it and make it tighter by tying it together with sticky tape.

Then just crochet it over with yarn with the simple crochet stitches. That’s it. Your handmade bracelets are ready. You may cut a wider slices of plastic to make wider handmade bracelets. That’s an easy and fun craft indeed.

How to reuse plastic bottles: crocheting crafts and nice things for home

I have to say I love crafting and I love upcycling. It’s a great thing, when I can combine the two the learn to reuse plastic bottles or other things we usually throw away. So, here I came up a few nice projects on repurposing plastic bottles.

Recipe frame is one of them:

how to reuse plastic bottles

That is one more problems solved in my house. I used to store all my recipes in a notebook. When I open it up to see the ingredients, I spill things over the pages and the recipe book gets untidy and messy. I hope you do better than I in this respect. But I have several recipes I use all the time. So, here is the repurposed plastic bottle and crocheting project to solve my problem.

As you may see, the plastic for the frame came from a plastic bottle. Here is my step by step how-to on this one:

1. Cut out a piece of smooth plastic our of the plastic bottle.

2. Make holes on the edges with a pricker.

3. Use some nice yarn and crocheting hook to crochet the thing around from three sides.

4. Measure the size of your frame pocket and print out or write out your recipes. (Do two of them for one frame).

5. insert the recipes inside the frame and crochet the last side.

6. Crochet a chain to hang the frame and decorate it, if you wish to.

BTW, the butterfly is also made out of the plastic bottle. I think, this way my recipes look nice. They are always right before my eyes, so I do not even have to get the recipe book out. And, I;ve reused some of the plastic bottles decorating my home. All you need is a little crocheting skill and some imagination for this easy plastic bottle upcycling project.
