Easter fabric crocheted basket

This is a very cute and sweet looking Easter fabric crocheted basket. Easter egg basket is not the only use for it. You can store your candies, fruit or other things in it. You can use it to store your jewelry or crafting supplies. Or, you could go shopping with it.

The size of this Easter fabric crocheted basket is 6 by 10 inches. It is totally go green project. I have used an old curtain and a piece of old brown flower pattern fabric to make the yarn for the rug basket. I have also used an old bag handle to upcycle it and make the basket handle.

More upcycling and decoupage ideas

I love to repurpose things and decoupage provides me with the easy way of doing so. In this post you’ll see two decoupage ideas: decoupage on trays and recycled tile.

plastic tray decoupage

plastic tray decoupage

I got two plastic and ugly green color trays at the flea market just for 50 cents. But they are perfect for decoupage. This one I have decoupaged with sunflowers. I can use it for serving food or carrying plates, but I love it on the shelf, too.

Here is the other decoupage idea on a tray, so to say:

It’s the same type of tray as the first one and I decoupaged it as a spring gift for one lady. It’s a sort of shabby chic style in decouapge. It’s a pity I did not have the crackle polish for it though.

So, here is a quick tray decoupage tutorial:

The difficulty with these trays is that the plastic is “slipery” so to say and the paint easily falls off of it. You may rub it with the sand paper first. I repainted the trays in white using acrylic paint.

Then I decoupaged them and covered with transparent polish. The rose tray, I did not like to leave it just white, so I dippied a napkin in some coffee and rubbed in onto the tray to make it look a bit old and shabby.

Finally, here is the recycled and decoupaged tile:

It’s a small and old tile about 2 by 4 inches. It was a white tile, so I did not paint it and just decoupaged it with the napkin. Then I covered it with two types of polish: the transparent and pearl ones.

Few weeks ago I bought this organic rope in the store. I fell in love with it the moment I saw it. I have already used it in many crafts. But I love this one. I just used hot glue gun to glue the rope around the tile and make a handle over it.

So, now I can hang it on the wall as a small picture, or I can glue a recipe onto it or use it as a picture frame. I have made 3 of such tiles and gave two of them away putting on the printed Bible verses. They do make nice little and very inexpensive gifts.

It’s a nice way to go green with these decoupage ideas. I  hope you enjoy them, pin them and share them on Facebook or Twitter.

Homemade gifts: decoupaged glass bottles and jars for kitchen

Homemade gifts are special. They have their soul, they history; they are unique, as no crafter can two similar things. They all have their peculiarities. So, let’s take a look at some great homemade gifts ideas and at decoupaged glass bottles and jars in particular.

Why these homemade gifts are so good?

–          Fancy
For one, they are fancy. Decoupaged glass bottles and jars can be very fancy. They can be adorn in any style and pattern you want. They can have flowers, churches, dolls, bears, holiday motives – just anything on them.

–          Unique
Decoupaged glass bottles are unique. It’s hardly possible to decoupaged two bottles in exactly the same way, even if you are using the same napkin pattern. So, you get a unique homemade gift.  No one else has something like this

–          Practical
My decoupaged homemade gifts, i.e. bottles and jars, are covered with acrylic transparent polish. This makes them washable and they do not get scratched or damaged easily. So, you may use them in your kitchen for storing your vegetable oil, tea, coffee, spices or anything else you can think of. They are made for daily wear and tear.

–          Eco friendly
These homemade gifts are made out of recycled materials. So, you make another step to living green buying these decoupaged bottles and jars.

–          Safe
You may not know it, but storing your vegetable oil in plastic bottles is not safe for your health. There is no perfectly safe plastic. Oil creates a pretty aggressive environment for plastic. Once you open up a plastic oil bottle, you let the air in and make the environment even more aggressive and damaging for plastic. If you keep your oil there for a while, it stats consuming bits of plastic and eventually you consume all that filth. So, it’s a good idea to pour your oil into the glass bottles to keep it safe.
Decoupaged glass bottles are not only safe, but also nice looking. They add up to your home décor.

You can order any decoupaged glass jars or bottles from me through my Etsy shop recycledcrafting. Go to my  decoupage project page to see some of my bottle designs.  Or, you may order custom designed homemade gifts. I can use folk Ukrainian motives in decorating bottles, plates or jars for you.

Crafting handmade jewelry: crochet pendent and bracelet

This far I have made some handmade jewelry pieces. It’s a new crochet and recycled carft project.

It’s a pendent and a bracelet. I used metal discs for the pendent. I crocheted over three of them and joined them together on one string with a bead. I used plastic bottle as the base for my bracelet. I crocheted it over and used the same string as for the crocheted pendent to decorate it.

It’s an easy craft and the jewelry looks good on you.

Ukraine folk style glass bottle and wood decoupage

I simply love to decoupage all things, including glass bottles. Decoupage is a very easy way to turn glass bottles into great decor items for your home or even into gift items.

Here is another one of my decoupage projects, glass bottle and bread board set decoupage.

glass and wood decoupage

I used may rose flower napkin to decoupage this set. This tree is one of the folk national symbols of Ukraine.

glass bottle decoupage

As usual, I have repainted the bottle before decoupaging it. I did not have a lid for it, so I made one using a foam sponge and red yarn.

wood decoupage

I add it a touch of gold by applying some gold paint with a piece of napkin. It did not take me more than an hour to finish up this decoupage set.
