Housekeeping tips: Cleaning wonders you can do just in 15 min!

I am a mother of two kids and I have a house to keep. I have to confess to you: housekeeping is a dull work for me. Plus, I am a working mom. I work from home and this means I always get torn between working and housekeeping.

But, the good news is that I have discovered little magic to help me along. This magic is in just spending 15 min on something you do not like doing and seeing the amazing results. Here is a picture for you to see:

And here is another one:

housekeeping tips: cleaning magic

I hope, you never have such a mess in your kitchen. But, at times I get that in mine. That’s a monster I need lots of magic to deal away with! Only to make things worse: I do my dishes by hand. I do not have a dish washing maching. And, I do not have hot water in my kitchen. So, what I have to do is to heat up a pot of water, wash dishes in a bowl and then rinse them under cold running water.

But you know what, there is no mess in your house you cannot clean in 15 min! Of course, you do not believe me now. But that is true. Only this 15 min work has to be done day after day. The reason I have such a huge pile of dirty dishes in my kitchen is because I missed one day. So, today I had to spend 30 min on the dishes.

And, you know what? I did it. Just in 30 min with no hot water and dish washer I got done most of the dirty dishes you see on the pictures. To prove that cleaning success I have more picture to offer to your attention.

Busy mom cleaning tips

Those are the same table that were piled up with dirty dishes just 30 min ago. Yes, I still have few to go, but it’s already much cleaner than it used to be!

So, you see, the main tip in keeping your house clean is working just 15 min a day on each room or area of your house. 15 min of daily cleaning can do miracles. I have learned it from the flylady book and I am very grateful for this knowledge. It works like a house cleaning magic for a desperate housekeeper! I hope it would help you to start enjoying your life in a clean and shining home. You deserve it!

How to get clean house: practical tips for busy moms

Clean house is the joy and pride for many women. And, being so busy with kids, families, jobs, responsibilities, shopping, social involvement, and on and on, clean house becomes a dream hard to achieve.

cleaning houseThis is another one of our female dreams about clean house: getting our hubbies and kids help us to clean it.

Today this dream of mine has come true and I have few practical tips to share with you.

I had two very busy working weeks. I had absolutely no time to do home choirs house clean. So, by this weekend I got a huge mess out of it. My mother came over to stay couple of days. Yes, she has done some dishes, big thank you. But, she also got ever nagging and bagging me about the mess and telling me how bad I am to work instead of house clean.

I got up this morn in bad mood, obviously. I felt so overwhelmed with cleaning to do. But, I somehow got started on it. And, few household simple life miracles happened to me:)

1. The start was hard, but then I got inspired and things started to roll for me. I planned to do some minor cleaning, just to get stuff out of my way. But, I ended up doing major cleaning. And, I enjoyed it thoroughly. That’s the frist miracle.

2. All my family caught my inspiration and started to clean with me. My husband gave me a BIG hand in cleaning today. We moved away sofas, shelves, wardrobes, cleaned it all behind them. My babies helped me to sort out their toys and even agreed to give away part of them (we have way too many toys at home). That’s my second miracle.

3. My mother is HAPPY now. And, that is a miracle on its own. What is more, she is happy with me and with what I do.

4. I got all the cleaning, moving furniture, vacuuming, dusting, washing floors, sorting out toys, sorting out clothes on our shelves done in just 90 min. That is a big miracle number four.

So, here are my easy housecleaning and housekeeping tips to share:

To get clean house you need to:

1. Get started

2. Get inspired and start enjoying what you do

3. Turn some good and fast music on

4. Turn off TV and cartoons (this would get the distractions off the way for your hubby and kids)

5. Stop nagging them about helping you and start inspiring with your personal example and humor

6. Expect miracles to come your way.

3 cleaning secrets to keep your house shining at all times

I have to be honest with you, a year ago my house used to be a complete mess. I dreaded those unexpected visits of my friends or relatives. I just could not have anyone over. If we planned to invite someone to visit us, this meant a day or two of urgent cleaning for me. Now, I have a very good reason to excuse myself for such a mess. I have two young kids of 4 and 1 years of age. I work 5 hours a day. I used to do all the washing by hand and I still hand wash my dishes.

But, I did not feel happy or content living in all that mess, neither did my husband or kids. I got sick and tired of all my relatives speaking their minds out to me and no help from them. So, I only had to pray for a miracle. And, I got one. I have stumbled on the Flylady.net and a book by Marla Watson. It is a pretty simple book to follow. At first, I did not think much of it. But, I had nothing to lose, so I gave it a try… and it WORKED!

So, if you can at least partially relate to my story, here is my first practical cleaning tip. It really worked for me: Use the alarm clock, when cleaning.

Here is what you do: you set the alarm clock for 15 min and get to work. First select the area for cleaning. Do not attempt to clean the entire house all at once. It won’t work. I used to spend hours cleaning my house with no visible result. I made my heart fail at the very thought of cleaning.

So, you select just one area or one room of your house and get to work just for 15 min. Do not try to do the in depth cleaning during this time. Just try to get rid of the biggest mess in the area: make up your bed, put away all the clothes or other stuff, laying on the beds or floor. Try to dust, sweep and wash the floor or vacuum. That’s it. Do not set a goal too large to accomplish in 15 min.

Here is where the miracle comes in: if you focus on cleaning just one area and spend just 15 min on it, you will be amazed at how much you can accomplish in that short time. Even little effort counts, especially if it is a very targeted one. You will be amazed to see, what difference it makes to clean one area for 15 min with alarm clock. In my next post on cleaning tips, I’ll share my personal ‘cleaning miracle story’. To be continued…
