Crochet diy bracelet and pendent with glass stones

I love crochet diy bracelets and other handmade jewelry. For one it is unique and no one else has ecxactly the same thing. Plus, these things do look special.

One of the best things about handmade jewelry is that you can easily make it yourself. You need to learn only some basic crafting skills, such as basic crocheting, for instance. Then the choice is limited by your imagination and creativity only. This set of diy bacelet and pedent was real easy to make. It took me about half an hour to make it.

The only supplies I used for it was the yarn, glass stones and glue. Here is how I made this diy bracelet: I crocheted the base measuring it against the stone. Then I used rubber glue to fix the stone in the crochet base. That’s it. The craft is easy, but the diy bracelet look great. You may couple it by a pair of stone crocheted ear rings, too.

Paper mache projects: my first handmade doll box

I found this interesting idea for paper mache projects on Youtube. I just fell in love with the handmade paper mache doll box. I have two daughters, so I’ve got many old dolls at home.

Here is what I used for this paper mache project:

Old plastic doll (top part)

Newspapers and handmade glue (corn glue)

Decoupage glue and napkins

Old scarf and some ribbon

I have to admit that it took a while for the paper mache skirt to dry up. I decoupaged it with rose napkins.

I glued the fabric onto the decoupaged surfaces using rubber glue. This paper mache project was not easy to do, but it’s a first paper mache project for me. I love the result.

Making a box how to: recycled craft aluminium can handmade Christmas box

This is one of my new recycled craft projects. It took me a while to finish it up. It’s a handmade Christmas gift box made out of aluminium cans.

You may buy this unique recycled box on my Etsy shop.recycledcrafting.  I have a step by step how to for this handmade box for you:

That is where you start. Get enough cans, cut them up to make aluminium sheets and clean them.

Make a paper layout and pattern for your future box.

Then cut out the pattern out of aluminium. I used two sheets of aluminium for each side of the box. So, I had to double the number of sheets I cut out and then fix them together.

Looks tidier, right? Now I had to prick holes in the aluminium sheets. I used a paper pricker for it.

Then I painted one side of the plates, as I wanted to get a white box.

When my can box plates dried up, I started to crochet them together through the pricked holes.

Finally, I assembled the handmade can box by crocheting it together.

Then I moved on to decorating it.

I have decoupaged it with the Christmas bell on the top, as I did with one of the decoupaged glass bottles. The great thing about decoupage is that you can decoupage almost anything, if you cover it with paint first.

I decoupaged the box with snowflakes on the sides, I cut them out of napkins.

That is how this handmade can box for Christmas looks from inside. I plan on using the can box for Christmas gifts and candies.

Crafting handmade jewelry: crochet pendent and bracelet

This far I have made some handmade jewelry pieces. It’s a new crochet and recycled carft project.

It’s a pendent and a bracelet. I used metal discs for the pendent. I crocheted over three of them and joined them together on one string with a bead. I used plastic bottle as the base for my bracelet. I crocheted it over and used the same string as for the crocheted pendent to decorate it.

It’s an easy craft and the jewelry looks good on you.

3 reasons to learn recycled crafts

From trash to beauty

I will not name the obvious reason for learning recycled crafts. It’s being eco friendly. There are some other great reasons to learn this type of crafting. Take a look at three of them here.

1. Recycled crafts offer you wide diversity of choice

There is almost limitless number of things you can craft learning recycled crafts. You can upcycle or recycle almost anything. At this most of the materials for recycling or upcycling are easy to work with. You may use anything from used coffee filters to plastic water bottles or aluminum cans or broken tiles for you craft projects. So, the choice of material and of the things you make crafting is limited only by your imagination.

Plus, you learn different crafting techniques, mastering recycled crafts. I have learned crocheting, decoupage on glass and plastic, paper-mache or working with cotton wool for my recycling projects.

2. Recycled crafts are easy to learn

Most of the recycling craft projects are easy to do. You can learn them quickly and finish them up in a matter of minutes or hours. For instance, you may make a plastic bottle crochet bracelet in less than 10 min. Or, you may make a cute little plastic bottle basket in just half an hour. You may do recycled crafts with your kids, teaching them to live green and to have and craft.

3. Recycled crafts are cheap

In most cases crafting takes some money. You need to buy the materials for your crafting projects. It’s not a problem with recycled crafts. For instance, I use old yarn for my projects. I recycle old sweaters or scarfs and use that yarn. In most cases, you may get glass bottles for decoupage, water bottles, cans, or cardboard for free. And, there is another advantage to consider. When you learn to craft, you get some chances of spoiling your first projects. With recycled crafts it’s not a big deal, as the materials are either cheap or free. And your material supplies can be easily refilled.

Hopefully, these reasons to learn recycled crafts are good enough for you to try them. Check out some of the ideas and how tos for recycled crafts on my blog.

Easy Christmas craft: making a Christmas tree out of yarn

It a real easy Christmas craft for kids. This yarn Christmas tree takes only 10 min to make.

Here is how you make it. You make a cone out of cardboard. I fastened it together with a stapler. Then use some glue to apply onto your cone. I got some light green yarn. So, after putting the glue on I just wrapped the yarn around the yarn and glued it down. Then I decorated the handmade Christmas tree with golden plastic bids and flowers.

Winter has finally come to Ukraine: winter photos and winter fun

Only few days ago we have found flowers blooming in the grass. We believed we were doomed for “green’ Christmas. But here we are. It’s snowing heavily in Ukraine. Here are some winter photos and winter fun we had on our wooden diy slide for kids.
