Handmade jewelry project: a ring and a pendent

This is one of my handmade jewelry projects. Unfortunately I do not have much time to cover them all in my blog. This fabric ring and pendent are the part of one of my refashion projects.

I have bought a pair of huge and ugly green pants at a flea market. I looked exactly like Asterix in them. But I refashioned them into a stylish skirt and a handbag. I had some scrapes left, so I made this fabric jewelry set.

This is my green fabric pendent. It is accompanied by the fabric ring.

Here is my quick how to on this fabric jewelry set. I used coins for the fabric circle bases. I used hot glue gun for attaching the fabric to the coins. I have also used a piece of recycled belt as the base for the pendent. So, this is a go green jewelry project, as I have used only recycled or recycable materials for it.

As you may see, I have used just tiny scrapes of fabric for this jewelry project. Still it does look good and I get many people asking me where I got this set.

Easy orange jelly recipe

This orange jelly recipe is indeed easy and healthy. But it also looks good and kids love the way you serve it.

Here is how you make this orange jelly. The recipe:

1 table spoon of gelatin

2-3 table spoons of sugar or honey

1/2 cup of hot water

5-6 oranges

a bit of cinnamon

You pour gelatin with hot water, add sugar or honey and stir it well. Then you slice the oranges in half and squeeze the juice out and remove all the insides without damaging the skins.

You mix the juice with the gelatin mix and stir it well. Add some cinnamon and pour your jelly into the orange half. Then you set them into your fridge and freeze them. You serve your orange jelly right in the orange skins and you may use some fresh mint leafs for decoration.

Tilda style fabric basket

This is a very easy Tilda style fabric basket sewing project. I have spent about 10 min making this fabric basket. I can use it for storing my make up or for crafting supplies. It’s a small and cute basket.

Here is a quick how to or tutorial on this Tilda style fabric basket.

You’ll need three layers of fabric for it. I cut out three equal circles. Two of them were made out of this brown fabric and one I cut out of an old sweater for the filling.

I put two of the brown circles together and sew them leaving a small hole for everting. Then I everted them and inserted the third circle inside the two. I sew them together make these  squares as you may see on the picture.

Then I used a needle and a thread to sew on the edges of the circle and pulled the thread to ruffle up the circle. Finally, I sew on the lace and made a rolled lace flower for decoration.

Decoupage ideas: French style glass bottle decoupage

I really love this glass bottle decoupage project. I got this little glass bottle with one flat side and it suggested a wonderful decoupage idea to me.

As you may see, the bottle has Eifel tower on its front side. I used a very nice vintage type of napkin for this decoupage idea.

I have also made a small leather bow for the bottle and attached a short chain with a little silver key to it. So, now I got a nice French style and vintage looking vase made out of recycled glass bottle with decoupage on it.

Jumpers refashion project

This is my first refashion project for kids. I used to love sewing when I was a kid. And I have even taken one year of fashion college, but later on I have all foresaken sewing. The good news is that my husband made me a present: a vintage sewing machine. Here it is:

So, now I have tons of refashion projects to finish. Here is the first one. As usual I have forgotten to take the BEFORE picture. So, this was a jumper of my older girl and she grew out of it. I refashioned it into a dress and a small handbag.

I had a very colorful top I got for the daughter on a sale. It surely looked nice on the store shelf, but it did not fit her well. So, I used it for this jumper refashion.

The top had ruffles on it, so I used them at the bottom on the dress and on the pockets.

I have made a small handbag out of the scraps of the jumper and decorated it with a rolled fabric flower made out of the top.

I have also made a headband out of the top. So, now my girl got a colorful set of things instead of one old jumper. It’s an easy refashion project and a great way to go green.

DIY pin cushion out of coffee can

This is a very quick and easy DIY pin cushion project. It took me about 10 min to finish it.

pin cushion

This was a small tint coffee can with a plastic  lid. I have decoupaged it with recycled fabric. This fabric used to be a baby dress. I also sew a heart for the pins. I used dish sponge for the filling.

I have used the scrapes of butterfly ribbon to decorate the can and I used the organic rope for the edges.

You can see that the lid opens up and I store the threads or ribbons inside and the pins and needles on the top. It’s a cute DIY project you can make using hot glue gun and fabric scrapes. Check out my Pinterest boards for more inspiration.

Decoupage ideas: bunny jar

This is one of my latest decoupage projects I really love. It’s decoupage on glass with a napkin. It’s a bunny jar.

bunny far

This is a larger size glass jar. It used to lay around in the barn. I cleaned it and decoupaged with bunny napkin.

Here is a quick decoupage on glass tutorial:

- Repaint the glass jar first with acrylic paint. It’s really hard to decoupage on glass, if you do not paint it first. The napkins soak up fast and get easily torn.

- Once the paint dries up, you can start decoupaging. I use transparent furniture polish instead of glue. First I sparingly apply the polish onto the painted glass. Then I put the napkin on and add more polish to get it stick to the jar.

bunny jar2

As you may see here, I have made a little dint in the napkin right above the rabbit. Later on I dubbed it with little bit of white paint.

- Finally, you cover up the entire jar with more polish. It makes it hard to damage the decoupage and you can wash it.

I have also decoupaged the metal lid of the jar.

I have also repainted it before decoupaging. Then I added a ribbon as a final touch. Now I store sugar in this decoupaged glass jar. Follow me on Pinterest and check out my Etsy store.

Recycling: shabby chic can bucket

I really love this cute craft supply shabby chic can bucket. It’s a sort of basket for storing scissors and other crafting tools and supplies. But it has a handle and it looks like a tiny bucket.

shabby chic can2

The can is upcycled by being decoupaged with cute pink crocheted fabric. Plus I used organic rope to make a handle and the bottom of the can.

shabby chic can5

As you may see, the bottom of the shabby chic can bucket is decorated with the coiled rope.

shabby chic can4

The shabby chic can bucket is decorated with vintage book page flowers and with wooden beads and rolled fabric flowers.

You may order this bucket or one in a different design from me in by Etsy RECYCLEDCRAFTING store.
